Did you know that there’s a new craze in JKPS? It’s a card game devised by Year 4 pupils – Sonny, Leo, and Felix.
It’s called CACTUS CLANS and it began as an idea they cooked up in the Young CEOs club. But these boys have taken it to another level, and are even developing a video game.

There are going to be Cactus Clans cards on sale at this weekend’s summer fair, and fellow Year 4 pupils Jude and Harrison are going to be helping out too – selling Cactus Clan cupcakes and helping run the stall.
50 percent of profits will go to the school, and 50 percent into their next business venture.
The Mog Chronicle’s Frida caught up with the boys with this exclusive interview.
So, what is Cactus Clans?
LEO It’s a card game and a video game.
FELIX: The cards are inspired by pokemon and the video game is inspired by the cards.
How does the card game work?
LEO : You can choose. There are 3 ways to play it – one is like Top Trumps, one is a battle, and the third one is with the overall score being the highest.
And how does the video game work?

LEO: It’s very basic.
FELIX: A set of challenges.
LEO: Right now there are 8 challenges – there are a few bugs. Felix has his work cut out for him to fix it all by Saturday!
FELIX: We are not going to fully finish the game by Saturday. But there is a game you can play.
What is your favourite clan?
FELIX: My favourite clan is THE CRYSTALLINE AND THE METAL
LEO: This one is a work in progress – the THUNDER CLAN. And FROST CLAN is a work in progress. A very popular favourite clan is the HOT DOG CLAN.
Where did the hot dog name come from?
FELIX: We made it completely by accident and for no reason!
LEO: Me and Sonny had hot dogs for dinner and that gave us the idea. And that’s how hot dog clan was made.

Where can we buy the card game?
FELIX: We are selling them at the Summer Fair. We packaged the cards this week. We want to sell 500 cards.
LEO: Half the money will go to the school and half will go to our next project – a board game which will cost a lot of money as we need to make custom boards.
How much do they cost?
FELIX: £1 for five cards.
LEO: Me and Harrison are treasurers. Jude is selling cactus clan cupcakes. Sonny is selling them too along with Felix. There will also be a cactus Lotto! Put your name on a slip – and whoever wins gets 2 free cards!
FELIX: Jude’s cakes will be between 50p and £1 per cake. Cactus clan cupcakes!
Why is it called Cactus Clans?
LEO: Me and Sonny were experimenting with ideas and we just settled on that. Felix then began to focus on the video game. So far it’s been a big hit in clubs – Young CEOs and Art club.
(At this point in the interview Harrison and Jude showed up)

What are your favourite clans?
HARRISON: My favourite clan is the CAMO CLAN!
JUDE: My favourite is KARATE CLAN!
Do you have anyone you’d like to thank?
LEO: Thanks to Sonny’s mum for printing them out. And Felix’s dad for making the video game. And my parents for absolutely nothing!
Did you learn anything from doing all this?
FELIX: Absolutely nothing for me.
LEO: I learned it takes a while to print things out.
Fellow creator Sonny was ill when this interview was taken – so he sent in this quote from home while watching Horrible Histories and eating soup.
SONNY: We just love the Cactus Clans. It’s for everybody and it’s such a fun game so please get involved.
