Last week we celebrated ‘Hello Yellow Day’ here at JKPS.
We celebrate hello yellow day because it’s all about awareness of Mental Health.
We all have bad days when we struggle with our emotions and our feelings so it’s important to recognise that.
So why the colour yellow?
Well, yellow is a colour for happiness. Most people associate yellow as a colour for good feelings, red is for anger, and blue is for feeling sad and down.
We interviewed some children to see how the day affected them:
“It’s important for the kids who are autistic and who have ADHD or dyslexia,” Mr Alex said.
Alfie in Year 3 said that he loves hello yellow day, “because I like having fun with my friends.”
Oscar in Year 5 said: “I love hello yellow day because I like the lessons and wearing yellow.”
Conrad WJ in Year 5 said that he “loves the activities.”
Jasper in Year 2 says he likes hello yellow day “because I like wearing yellow.”
Kuba in Year 5 said that he likes celebrating hello yellow day “because it’s so creative and fun.”
Everyone in the school is looking forward to celebrating it again next year!
