ELKE BÜDENBENDER, FIRST LADY OF GERMANY!!!

She will be visiting us on Wednesday, December 3.

The visit will be about 40 minutes and she will be bringing along with her two or three members of her team.

She is coming at the end of the school day and we are very excited for her to be coming. Ms. Julia also said that she was very excited and can’t wait for the visit.

A first lady is the wife of the German president. She is here because of a state visit conducted by her husband, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

A state visit helps build political and cultural relations between two countries.

Büdenbender pursued a career as a lawyer and worked at the Berlin Administrative Court until her retirement at the end of June 2025.

She also took long term leave 2017 to 2022 in order to devote her time to being first lady during her husband’s first term.

We are so privileged to be able to ask her some questions which we will hopefully report back on next week.
