Oktoberfest has never been so exciting before – and we have the official stats to prove it.
Last year, an astonishing 1,440 sausages were sold but this year we can exclusively reveal that we smashed that record and an incredible 1,486 meaty meals were gobbled up – much to the delight of our school community.
And that’s not all.
Oktoberfest organisers have told the Mog Chronicle that if you include the number of free wieners handed out to the late-night revellers right at the end of the night, a whopping 1,580 sausages were consumed in total over the weekend.
This includes around 120 Weisswursts eaten during the Oktoberfest breakfast.

Here at the Mog Chronicle we believe that we have broken the world record for the largest number of sausages consumed at an Oktoberfest event outside of Germany – well, at least at a school in South East London.
And it’s not only pork products that we are tracking.
At Oktoberfest, more than 600 slices of cake, 800 pretzels and around 2,300 pints of beer were purchased. Not to mention the hundreds of cups of coffee sold.
During the event last Saturday our team of reporters spoke to many individuals running the stands as well as JKPS parent Laurie Sanderson. This was her seventh year being part of the organising committee.
“I think this year everything has been going very well and it’s been very smooth so we’re really happy. We’d like a little more sunshine though,” she said.
“I think it’s a great time to come together with the whole school and have all the parents and children doing something fun.”
Laurie’s wish for more sunshine did not come true. At around 5 p.m. the wind picked up and the skies clouded over. There was even some slight rain and the organisers were worried they would have to send everyone home early.

Thankfully, the rain was not as bad as feared and the party continued until well past 10 p.m. – but we don’t know exactly when it ended because none of us stayed that late.
The crowds were kept hyped by none other than DJ Nick.
“It’s great there are so many people here,” he said when we interviewed him behind the decks. “There are lots of things to enjoy like food and drink and friends. Providing the music that allows everyone to enjoy their time here is a really important thing to do.”
Some of his most popular floor fillers were songs by K Pop Demon Hunters, APT by Bruno Mars and Rosé (which played at least three times) and Freed from Desire by Gala.
Another highlight was the live music from the incredible local Cambria Choir and none other than our own headteacher Mr. Patrick who rocked throughout his performance.
We say: “Party on Patrick” – aka P Dog, as we’ve been told JKPS staff affectionately call him when he’s got his shades on and is in music mode.

We give Mr. Patrick and his band a 9 out of 10 for their brilliant musical performance but stay tuned for our official review of his set in the coming weeks.
Also the Mog Chronicle took a keen green interest in the state of the grass across the event.

We are pleased – and relieved – to report that it held up ok despite thousands of people walking across it for 48 hours.

The grass definitely took a bit of a beating and at around 10 p.m. there were some muddy patches.
But thankfully it wasn’t looking too downtrodden on Monday morning and we hope it will be back to its former glory in no time.

We hope you enjoyed Oktoberfest and thank you to everyone who worked hard to make it such a huge record-breaking success.
Please check back in with the Mog Chronicle soon for the official total raised, and what it will be spent on around JKPS.
