World Cup 2026

With Messi winning the World Cup with Argentina back in 2022 (which was his last World Cup experience) in 2022 there were some other memorable moments too.
There were some surprising runs from underdog teams like South Korea getting through instead of Uruguay and Morocco getting to the semi finals and coming fourth overall.

Remember Saudi Arabia beating Argentina in their first game? And Cameroon beating Brazil in the last game of the group stage? Australia were also a strong team, but Argentina did knock them out eventually. Italy didn’t even make it into the World Cup, after winning the Euros the year before! And Spain didn’t make it through to the quarter finals. So now we’re going to give you our predictions for World Cup 2026.

Here are our predictions and our Mog Chronicle ‘in the know’ moments.

We think Brazil could have the chance to win. This is because they have won it five times… this would be their 6th trophy!
If the Netherlands win it would be their first ever World Cup trophy.
France – what a team with great players!

England – This could be the year it finally comes home. Bellingham is at his best, Kane is smashing it for Bayern, Foden scoring in the premier league, and England have unbelievable youngsters all over the place.

Sadly this year there’s some amazing players who’ve sadly retired and we won’t see them in this World Cup. These include Gareth Bale, Messi, Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Luis Suarez, Buffon, Hazard, Pepe, Ibrahimovic, Giroud, Ochoa, Thiago Silva, Sergio Ramos, Sergio Busquest and Chellini. They will join other retired legends of world cup football including Bobby Moore, Zidane, Maldini, Pele (who won a hat-trick of world cups), Zambrotta, Maradona (the absolute cheat!), Gascoigne, Platini, Ronaldo (Brazilian) , Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Alan Shearer, Lizarazu, Cech, Torres, Eusebio, Henry, Rooney, Beckham, Schweinsteiger, Beckenbauer (who sadly passed away this year) and Geoff Hurst (who scored the hat-trick for England in the 1966 World Cup Final)

What is going to change in the 2026 World Cup? Abusive chat will be banned. There will be 48 teams up from 32 before – there will be 12 groups of four teams. Last year you were not allowed beer because of religious reasons in Qatar but now that it is held in the USA, Canada and Mexico you are allowed loads of beer glug glug glug .

Everyone here at the Mog Chronicle is really excited and can’t wait for World Cup 2026!
