This school has had German pen pals since the day the rusty gates of JKPS opened back in 2013. And this year is no exception.
This term the school has had a little switcheroo and Year 5s will be taking on the mammoth task of replying to these exciting new friends from Cologne.
But it is not just the JKPS Year 5ers who are getting this task. The German students must also write to us in their second language: English.

So far, everyone in Year 5 has received one letter from each of our pen pals. In general, most letters are about hobbies and much more.
If you don’t know what a pen pal is let us explain …a pen pal is someone who writes to you from a different country or place. Our pen pals are from Germany. Every student in year five has their own pen pal.
The letters arrived through the post to our school. We got them in German class and we all read them thoroughly to ourselves. Even though there were lots of spelling mistakes they were really intriguing. The pen pals told us about their families their friends, what they like to do and if they have any pets. Rumours are that someone even had a jellyfish as a pet at home! They seem to like cats and dogs a lot and lots of sport.
All of Year 5 have written back to their pen pals in German, replying to their questions and telling them about ourselves.

Hopefully we will get new letters soon as these friendships develop, we will keep our Mog Chronicle readers posted.
Danke Schon!!
